I done the photoshop to my pics which i taken before. I made the colour in each image looks similar, because i took pics in different weather.

I hv decided which 6 images do i need for my project and as well as the sound track. I connect the sound as well as the interview to the person together. Which makes the project much more better, at least it has a narrative already.

Here are the complete images which i have done with photoshop.

In this time, i focused the depth of field and some portrait to the person.

here are some pics which i thought  better than last time.

i still need to take some photos as establishing shoot, as well as i need to use lower angle or high angle to take more pics.

i really enjoy my project.:)

My project idea is about recycle center, and i want to take some pics about the people doing the recycling. I found one of the places is nearby sainsbury, and it is only for can. I took some pics there on Friday in week 4.

Generally, some pics which i hv been focused on the person who is doing the work, some pics focused on the cans.

In this week, i done the edit for the pics which have been taken in last week’s field trip.

Here are the best two pics have been taken in last week, as well as my favourite.

Personaly, i like the first one most, the image is very colourful and have the strong visual feeling to the audience.

However, it is a little bit blur and that what i dislike. Tutor told me because of the shutter has been used too fast by me and should make the aperature more bigger, therefore, i need to chenge the statistics to F5.6 when i take picture inside usually. That is a quite important and useful suggestion for me.

The other thing is about my project idea. My idea is about recycle centre. I want to take some pics to recycle place, because i think there are lots of cans, papers, glasses and so on to be recycled, so at least i can control the colour in the image. As well as i think that is the place where always be ignored by people, especially to the people who are doing the recycle things. I want to take some pics to them and also let everyone know that they are still doing the very important job even though they are not always been shown on the TV or being talked about by surroundngs. Therefore, i may focus on one person who doing the recycling.

I found one small recycle centre where is near the sainsbury’s, but they are only do the can recycling there on Tuseday. Unfortunately, my photography workshop is on Tuesday, so that’s the most important point for me to do my project. However, i met the good man who tell me his telephone no. and tell me if i need any information for recycling time just tell him and he will try his best to help me which make me very happy.

Now, i am really enjoy doing my project anyway. 🙂

Just want to continue the anlysis to the pics which were taken by Diane Arbus.

This is one of the most famouse photos taken by Diane arbus. “Identical Twins, Roselle, New Jersey”(1967)

The two yough twins stared into the camera, standing side by side in matching black dresses ,white tight, and white headhands in their dark hair. Which makes the colour of balck and white to be clearly to distinguished. And also combine with the white wall makes the whole image looks bright. This image was involved in the question of identity”Who are u and who am i.” That is what Diane Arbus want to express from this image. It also echoed in the film’The shining”, which derected by Stanley Kubrick in 1980.

Here is the picture”Jewish Giant at home with his parents in Bronx”(1970)

The man is called Eddie Carmel, he was known as the “Jewish Giant “and was an carnival/sideshow entertainer. In this image, it looks like the peole see their talking from the camera. Eddie’s parents should raise their head to talk with him and makes the whole image unusual. Actually, that is what Diane Arbus’s photoes always focus on.

“It’s important to take bad pictures. It’s the bad ones that have to do with what you’ve never done before. They can make you recognize something you hadn’t seen in a way that will make you recognize it when you see it again.” — Diane Arbus

So, her own evident intimacy with the extraodinary subjects of her photos to express something which always be ignored.

There are some quotes from Diane Arbus, which i think they are useflu for us to understand the images were taken by her.

“[Our self-image is] that gap between intention and effect”
— Diane Arbus

“I never have taken a picture I’ve intended. They’re always better or worse.”
— Diane Arbus

“Everyone has that thing where they need to look one way but they come out looking another way that’s what people observe.”
— Diane Arbus

“A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know.”
— Diane Arbus

“I always thought of photography as a naughty thing to do – that was one of my favorite things about it, and when I first did it, I felt very perverse.”
— Diane Arbus

“I really believe there are things nobody would see if I didn’t photograph them.”
— Diane Arbus

“I work from awkwardness. By that I mean I don’t like to arrange things. If I stand in front of something, instead of arranging it, I arrange myself.”
— Diane Arbus

“Most people go through life dreading they’ll have a traumatic experience. Freaks were born with their trauma. They’ve already passed their test in life. They’re aristocrats.”
— Diane Arbus

“Regardless of how you feel inside, always try to look like a winner. Even if you are behind, a sustained look of control and confidence can give you a mental edge that results in victory.”
— Diane Arbus

At last , i put our PPT about presentation in media, then everyone can look through it.Diane Arbus

I am start to research the infromation about the photographer “Diane Arbus” and start to prepare that for the presentation in week4.

” Diane Arbus (14 March 1923 – 26 July 1971) was one of the most original and influential American photographer of the 20th century. In 2003, she and her work were the subject of a major exhibition: Diane Arbus Revelations  that was organized by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and traveled to other locations including The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City in 2005. ” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diane_Arbus)

There are some images by Diane Arbus are quite impressed me.

The first impression for this image is make me feel shocked.  The woman who is on the right of this image look s beautiful and give us some feeling of calmness and we can feel that she looks like the people who are from the fairy tale.

The girl who is on the left of this image looks pure and we can feel she can relax with this woman, and seems that the woman can give some kinds of comfort to her often.

As Diane Arbus said: ” There’s a quality of legend about freaks.  Like a person in a fairy tale who stops you and demands that you answer a riddle.  Most people go through life dreading they’ll have a traumatic experience.  Freaks were born with their trauma.  They’ve already passed their test in life.  They’re aristocrats.”

This image looks funny, but still a fabulous one. The woman had the same hairdo with her dog, so we can get the information that the woman loves her dog very much.  However, That is not the most important point in this image. We still can think about what kind of information does Diane Arbus try to tell us in this image.

What’s more, the lighting creative some more mystery effect on this image.

That is just my first impression to the Diane’s photography, and then i will do more research and do more analysis before my presentation. Hopefully i can make more intersting points in next time.
